Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear.

My forum has gone kaput. I don't know, it's the place I did the forum at - the company, and anyway, things do not look good. And I am so sad because they said they probably lost everything that was there. And the forum was so awesome. And I especially loved all the comments in the section where I asked, "Who are you people, anyway?" The answers were so wonderful and they meant a lot to me and now they are probably irretrievably lost. Oh! Oh! Oh!

Well, here are my announcements:

1.) My film of "Letting Go of God" will be released this year, on DVD. It probably won't be until summer at the earliest. In the meantime, I am taking it to at least one film festival for sure and three more for maybe.

2.) I am revamping my website, which of course makes me feel like I'm in the middle of a life-makeover. It is embarrassingly out of date and I am going to make it something more appropriate and, to use a phrase from Project Runway, my favorite show - it's "forward thinking." Well, they actually say, "Fashion forward." But you get the idea. It will be cleaner, simpler, and more straightforward.

3.) I have been trying to finish my book, and that's why I have dropped the ball on blog writing. But of course, I have not finished the book. But I am not going to let go of my optimism about the book. Until I am officially labeled crazy. Which I do hope is not in the near future.

4.) I am going to open a real Jill and Julia show (with Jill Sobule) in the fall - we are getting things together for it now. It's gonna be fun. In the meantime we'll be doing some Largo dates and maybe some M Bar dates to workshop our material.

Well, I just wanted to say, I'm so sorry about the forum, it is so sad to me. I'll have to find another forum that is more reliable. Poop.

Forums are so fickle. Either the people within are fickle or if not them the damned software. Best of luck on that.

I'm very much looking forward to the movie release!

Forum refugee Papilio here. I hope you do make a new forum, and hope that members of the former one rendezvous there.

I've missed it and them (although on the plus side I've got more done).

It was God's will.

HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

Seriously, what Papilio said sums it up for me, too.

And best of luck with the DVD and the film festivals, too, Julia!

Even I, who has mainly been lurking from time-to-time, was surprised to see that it was suddenly just GONE (EEEP)! Of course, now that I can't have it, I want it even more!!

Not all is lost.
I was able to recover a good portion of the forum here:

It isn't all there, but a good portion of it is.

Yeah! Thanks you people out there. I am going to talk to my web guy tomorrow about what we can do to transfer what we can salvage to the new forum. I met with my web guy today and it should be up and running in three weeks at the latest. I am SO UPSET THAT THIS HAPPENED I CANNOT TELL YOU. IT's like I was giving a party and suddenly someone ordered everyone to leave. It's not fair!

I'm another forum refugee, or ousted partygoer in Julia's analogy. But it's good to find out what happened and to run into the other people here. I miss the forum too but I just think of this as one (bumpy) stage in its evolution...

Hi Julia, I just finished listening to 'Letting Go of God'. It is brilliant. I'm looking forward to see the movie.
Best wishes from India.

It's probably just as well. Some pretty strong (and relatively pathological) cliques had formed in there anyway. Dissenting opinions weren't welcomed, and a couple of tyrants ruled everything. Fan(atic)s are so odd. I much prefer this blog.

Still, if you get the forum up again, I'll likely check in from time to time.

Thanks for keeping us up to date Julia. I'm liking the refugee and party-cut-short analogies. I wouldn't have guessed I'd have been as disappointed as I have been since it went down - even though I've lurked much more than I've actually written.

At least I've managed to smuggle into the UK a copy of LGOG so I've got plenty food for thought ;) (Did you realise your publishers STILL haven't fixed it so LGOG to be sold in the UK?)

All the best and hi to my co-refugees!

Frankly, I enjoy the blog as much as the forum. I'll miss all the great links and discussions though. I hope something new emerges.

Can't wait to see LGOG on DVD!

Just a quick note to say sorry about the forum and I hope it's back up and running soon. Thanks again for your wonderful book which I downloaded from Audible. (LGOG) I'll bet I've listened to it 10 times so far!

I too was sad to see the forum down, and am glad to hear at least some of it may be back. I was more a reader than a poster, and learned so much there. I'll keep checking back. I hope some of the others (Jeff D., Slash, Norma) drop by here...
All the best, Julia! Thanks for being here.

Though we don't currently have the forum, I can't help but throw in this little bit of world news, in case anyone might be needing a little boost in the letting go of god process.

Let's try that again.
In any event, it's the cheery article about female circumcision. Any of you ladies need to have your libido stabilized or your psychology balanced?

I don't really know what your forum is, but I am sorry it got lost or called off just when I first got here. Anyway, for your new pursuits I say, "Make it work"

Glad to know the specific time frame for release of the LGOG movie on DVD.

I'm going to check back here frequently about the progress toward getting a new forum up and running.

Cheers everyone, and thank you Julia!

I just wanted to say "thank you" so much for writing/performing "Letting Go of God" and good luck on making it into a film.

Also, if you haven't seen Zeitgeist yet, please go to zeitgeistmovie.com and watch the first 40 minutes (the film has more than 7 million views on Google video). It will help you realize exactly how people started believing in God in the first place and why we shouldn't believe in God.
