“Letting Go of God” got into the Seattle Film Festival! I am so happy. I’m not sure of any more details, but this will be the public world premier. And in Seattle! What could be better? Also, I'm so happy the forum is up and running. I've been enjoying reading all the entries. What a relief to have that up.

  3. Seattle??? Yay!!! I will actually be able to go!!! I'm so excited. (if that wasn't evident by the amount of exclamation points)

I LOVE the cd and can't wait for the movie.

  4. Julia, good on you! But, you do have a pronoun problem.

  5. Julia, that's great to hear! I was in the audience here in L.A. for one of the filmed performances, and it was such a joy and honor to get to watch the process, and enjoy the show all at once. Can't wait till the dvd comes out.

All great success....p.s. loved you and Julia on TED; what a fantastic site.

  6. Does anyone know if or when "Letting go of God" will be out on DVD? I am assuming that is coming?
I have the CD and have really enjoyed it. I didn't even know till this past week of the DVD "And God Said HA", so I just got the DVD.

Congratulations, Julia! That's a wonderful venue for your movie's world premiere. Any chance a distributor will be there to pick it up? Or could someone from HBO wise up and program it for their network? This pieces really deserves a wider audience.

I meant "piece" singular. Oops. Watching too many hours of "Battlestar Galactica" in a row affects your typing skills.

  22. Love your comments and agree with almost all of them. Love Jill Sobule- caught her at the Delacourte last summer and became a fan and I'm a liberal from Utah and 65, so go figure.
Also, so far a Obama supporter mainly because everyone else is just so scary. You sound like a loveable very talented person. Good luck.

  23. Kudos to Blogs of Note and the film ! Did you know that this Rev. Wright(? spelling)of Obama fame is the same one that the Clinton's had at the White House during Lewinski-Gate ? ! Hmmm.

  26. Seattle Film Festival is wonderful- congrats....the people there are wonderful.....very receptive, and well read and they love their film festival....

( I used to live there for many years .....so I might be a bit biased.....)

And there is much good food and company on Capital Hill - so when the films show- the people all go to the resturantes on the Hill and talk about the movie....

( very different than Sundance...but very nice)

    good for you.....really...

stop by http://watergatesummer.blogspot.com/, lovely people there ....

  27. I can't wait to see it, mainly because I'm scared to death that I'll end up in an audience shot. I was, um, having a bit of trouble that night.

Man, it's been almost a year! I'm glad we'll all finally get to see it.

  29. Wow, the actual Julia Sweeney. How fun!

Have to say I caught "God Said Ha!" some years ago (4? 5?, goodness a bit ago), and very much enjoyed it. My sister and I got through deaths in our family using humour and relying on each other. Wonderful preformance. I even wrote a paper on "God Said Ha!" for psychology.

Anyway, I'll have to track down "Letting go of God"

  59. Hey Julia - I had no idea you were blogging, but why would I? It's not like we talk anymore. Oh, that's right - we never did. So. I'm super-certain you won't trace this back to my blog, which is fine. You're busy. You have a kid, oh yes, and a career. Ha ha. Anyway, I'm just glad we're Blogger-neighbors, and I've learned something: we're both Boars! (Please forward complaints to the Chinese Astrology Dept, not me.) The word of God is the truth whether we believe or not. Most people choose not to believe because God's truth exposes our sinful nature, and we don't want to change that. God is not religion, but a Holy Spirit and He created us, loves us, wants a relationship with us. God will not force us to love Him or believe, but rather turn us over to our own desires. That doesn't mean that we won't face judgment. Do we dare exalt ourselves above His knowledge? Or despise His truth? The bible says that we will all give an account whether we believe or not. What account will you give Julia? I'm afraid it will not be funny.

  62. Fantastic on the film, don't give up on Hillary. I lied about how big the fish I caught once and some of my Coast Guard exploits. We all are entitled to a little truth in cheek stories.

  64. Hooray! Congratulations on the film. I admire your talent. I'm in law school so I don't really get to do much writing "for fun," but I recently started a blog so hopefully I can be as candid and enjoyable as you.

We don't know each other, as you can probably tell, but if you're interested in attending DG founders' day in Seattle at the end of April you should let me know. Who knows, it may provide some fodder for later stories! ;-)

I am atheistic, but but don't like to call myself an atheist. It's like drawing some line in the sand between me and "them". It sets up camps of opposition. I am trying to figure out how to draw circles that encompass such sides. Can't wait to see the new film. Hat's off and Cowboy nod, and ceremonial bow! D. lifesbone.blogspot.com
